Amateur Status & Reinstatement

The USGA defines an Amateur golfer as follows:

An "amateur golfer" is one who plays the game as a non-remunerative and non-profit-making sport and who does not receive remuneration for teaching golf or for other activities because of golf skill or reputation, except as provided in the Rules.

The South Carolina Golf Association works in concert with the United State Golf Association at "Protecting the integrity of the game".  The SCGA handles all questions and violations pertaining to amateur status.  We also examine and process applications for amateur status reinstatement with the USGA.

For more information concerning Amateur Status, visit the USGA's website at Amateur Status & Reinstatement
