St. Helena Island, SC - As the day comes to an end, for the first time in this year's championship, a full round was completed on the intended competition day. With spots of showers throughout the day, but mostly a beautiful sun, competitors have battled the elements to arrive at the final round of the 87th SCGA Amateur Championship at Dataw Island Club's Cotton Dike course.

Studying the scoreboard, consistency proves to be the key trait when seeing the scores from current leader, William Harwood. Harwood, a Columbia native, matched days one and two scores by posting a five under, 66 to take the outright lead at 15 under par heading into the final round. Holding a four shot lead, Harwood stayed firm with his mindset of playing his game saying "I can only control what William does and my game." Harwood blistered the back nine, carding four birdies to give him a little cushion heading into the final round. Even with a four shot advantage, this championship is still anyone's for the taking. Sawyer Mills, of Easley, will hope to bring that to fruition. Mills, a member of the Winthrop Eagles men's golf team, matched Harwood's back nine firing four birdies - one of which came on the 17th hole. Mills would punch out from the left tree line, running the ball onto the green 18 feet short of the hole. He would go on to sink that birdie, moving him to 11 under for the championship. 

After struggling on the front nine, Jake Carter ended his day on a positive note with a birdie on the 18th hole to secure the third place position and a spot in the final pairing. Carter found trouble off the tee and saw numerous burned edges on the putting green, dropping him nine shots back of the leader. Carter hopes being in the final pairings and having a goal to hits fairways and greens will be able to move him into better contention.
