Happ Lathrop

Executive Director: Regarded by many as “Mr. Golf” in South Carolina, Happ Lathrop has presided over the game as executive director of the South Carolina Golf Association across four decades. In 1976, he became the first full-time employee of the South Carolina Golf Association when membership involved 99 clubs (about 11,500 golfers) and assets stood at $50,000. Today, 32 years later, the association commands more than $1-million in assets and represents the interests of more than 70,000 golfers across nearly 300 clubs. Before his time as the Executive Director at the SCGA, he graduated from the University of South Carolina along with lettering four years for the USC Golf Team. Happ is married to Joyce Lathrop, has two children (Biff & Shaye), and has 6 grandchildren.


Biff Lathrop - 485 posts

Senior Director of the SCGA: Biff has served the SCGA in an official capacity since 1995 and oversees all actions for the SCGA, including all competitions, member services and Association activities. Biff has a vast knowledge on the Rules of Golf, and has served on the USGA Mid-Amateur Committee. Biff is married and has two children.

James Park

Director of Member Services: James has been on the SCGA Staff since 2005. He oversees handicapping, course rating, and club membership programs. Before becoming the Director of Member Services, James was originally hired as the Events Manager, assisting with tournament/event administration and operations. James played collegiate golf at Winthrop University, graduating in 2000 with a BS in Business Management.

Kyle Maloney - 73 posts

SCGA Director of Competitions: Originally hired by the SCJGA in 2015, Kyle made the move to the SCGA in September of 2016 to help with the conduction of Major Championships, the SCGA 40+ Series, oversight of the One Day Programs, drone operations, media/social media, and website maintenance for the SCGA. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Kyle spent 6 years as an Assistant Golf Professional at Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island coordinating group and tournament play within the resort.

Ann Maness

Ann is the Director of Marketing, Communications and Special Events for the SCGA. A graduate of Coastal Carolina University, Ann lettered four years on the Women’s Golf Team, racking up 3 wins and a school single round record of 68. Prior to her position at SCGA she spent five years as the Director of Athletics and Compliance at the International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA) on Hilton Head Island. Ann grew up competing in tournaments with the SCJGA and went on to be the Director of the Horry County Chapter after college graduation. While away from work, she enjoys spending time with her niece Elle and nephew Hart and cheering on the Chanticleers and Carolina Gamecocks!

Joyce Lathrop

Director of Administration: Joyce is the wife of Executive Director, Happ Lathrop. Other than being the "First Lady of South Carolina Golf", she was hired on staff in 2002 and is in charge of office administration. She has two children, son Biff & daughter Shaye, along with 6 grandchildren. Joyce graduated from Columbia College.


Chris Miller

Senior Director of SCJGA:Chris has been with the SCJGA since 2000 overseeing the top Junior Golf program in the United States. A PGA Professional since 1997, Chris has coached High School Golf and has been involved with junior programming since 1993. Chris is married and has two children.

Allen Knight

SCJGA Director of Competitions: An SCJGA employee since 2006, Allen runs our SCJGA One Day Series & provides tournament support at all SCJGA Majors. He also manages the media/social media along with website administration for the SCJGA. Allen is married with two children.

Justin Fleming

Senior Director of Youth Development: An SCJGA employee since 2002, Justin oversees the Hootie & the Blowfish Junior Golf Series, Golf in Schools and assists with membership and SCJGA Major Championships. Justin is married and has three daughters


Joe Quick

SCJGF Director of Development: Joe came to the SCGA as a USGA PJ Boatwright Intern in 2002. Following his internship, and a stint with the Special Olympics South Carolina as a program director, Joe returned back to the SCGA in 2006 as the Director of Communications. In 2008, Joe took the roll of Director of Development for the SCJGF. Joe is married with two daughters and resides in Lexington.
