Co-Champions Crowned at Forty Plus Four-Ball Event

A beautiful golf course and blue skies greeted players at the third Forty Plus Series event of 2022 at The River Golf Club on Monday. In the Tournament Division, there was a two-way tie between the teams of Marcus Grumbles (Greenville) & Yancey Johnson (Simpsonville) and Chris Chamberlin (Rock Hill) & Jason Meadows (Myrtle Beach) after both teams finished with rounds of six under par 65.

In the Tournament Net Division, Dennis Schwab (Simpsonville) & Trey Werner (Simpsonville) took top honors after a net total of seven under par 74.

In the Senior Gross Division, Jack Brown (Greer) & Walter Todd (Laurens) finished atop the leaderboard with a five under par 66.

In the Senior Net Division, Dennis Beauford (Troy) & John Ivester (Greenwood) captured the victory with a seven under par 64.   

Steve Ganntt (Blythewood) and Jim Wise (Columbia) took top gross honors in the Super Senior Gross Division after a round of six under par 65.  In the Super Senior Net Division, John Cottrell (Gilbert) and Bob Edens (Columbia) finished in first after a net round of 68.

The Forty Plus is a series of events conducted for golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 44 two-man teams playing The River Golf Club in North Augusta, SC. This event was the third 40 Plus event the SCGA will conduct in 2022.  The next 40 Plus event will be held on April 26^th at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, SC.
