Warm Temperatures and Low Scores Showcased at Opening Round of SCGA Partners Championship
Columbia, S.C. - Greeted with unseasonably warm temperatures for a March weekend, the opening round of the 29th Annual SCGA Partners Championship was filled with plenty of red numbers as teams played a captains choice format at Spring Valley Country Club and The Windermere Club.
In the Championship Division, Zach Herold (Lexington) and Sam Jackson (West Columbia) opened the first round of the SCGA Partners Championship at The Windermere Club with a 15 under par 57 to take a one-shot lead over the team of Chris Eassy (Simpsonville) and Yancey Johnson (Simpsonville). Travis Cashion (Columbia) and Ben Twilley (Columbia) currently sit in third place with an opening round of 59.
Five teams sit in a tie for fourth after rounds of 60 and just three shots back of the leaders. The Championship Division will head to Spring Valley Country Club for the final round of competition on Sunday.
In the Tournament Division, the team of Andrew Berks (Fort Mill) and Thomas Rea (Fort Mill) sit at the top of the leaderboard after an opening round of 61 at Spring Valley Country Club. Matt Faulkner (Simpsonville) and Josh Ridley (Orangeburg) are two shots behind the leaders after a score of 63.
The Tournament Division will play their final round at The Windermere Club on Sunday.
The final round will be contested as a modified Texas Scramble format and will begin with a 9:30 AM shotgun start Sunday morning. For detailed scoring, final round pairings and other tournament information – 29th SCGA Partners Championship
