Siefert Leads After Opening Round of Mid-Amateur Championship

Greenville, S.C. – Low scores dominated the opening round of the 41st SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship that is currently being held at Green Valley Country Club from October 1-3, 2021. Chad Siefert (Greenville) leads by one heading into the second round after firing a blistering seven under par 65 to open the championship.

Siefert began his round by starting on the 10th tee of the double tee – double wave start. With two birdies and seven pars throughout his first nine, Siefert would grab the reigns on his back nine to compile four birdies, one eagle, three pars, and one lone bogey to complete his opening round 65. One shot behind the leader is Sam Jackson (West Columbia) after a first round 66 followed by Spencer Skiff (Columbia), Jeremy Revis (Greenville), and Todd White (Roebuck) all tied for third after opening rounds of 67.

The 2021 SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship is being conducted on the par 72 ~ 6,833 Green Valley Country Club layout. The field consists of 110 players from around the State of South Carolina and will be cut to the low 60 and ties after 36 holes.
