Roof Brothers Claim SCGA Lefty-Righty Championship
Starting the day with a two-shot lead, the team of Barry Roof (Myrtle Beach) and Brent Roof (Columbia) recorded a Final Round better ball score of seven under par 65 to capture the 45th SCGA Lefty-Righty Championship. The brother tandem carded seven birdies throughout the final round and over the course of thirty-six holes, the pair never recorded a bogey. A two-day total of 14 under par 130 bested their nearest competitors by three shots. Christopher Asbell (Summerville) and Cory Deering (Summerville) finished in second place with a two-day total of 11 under par 133.
In Lefthanders competition, Brent Roof (Columbia) shot a final round score of 69 and tournament total of 3 under par 141 to capture his sixth SCGA Lefthanders title. Fifteen-time Lefthanders Champion, Stan Sill (Spartanburg), fell just short of Roof after firing a two-day total of 1 under par 143.
In Senior Lefty-Righty competition, Steve Horton (Moncks Corner) and Rich Weston (Pawleys Island) took home the title after a two-day total of 13 under par 131. Finishing in second place was the team of Mike Daniels (Murrells Inlet) and John Long (Murrells Inlet) after a tournament total of 10 under par 134.
In Senior Lefthanders competition, Rich Weston completed the win after a final round score of 73 and two-day total of even par 144. Finishing in second place was first round leader, Ron Clontz (Greer) with a tournament total of 149.
