Barry and Brent Roof Take First Round Lead at Lefty-Righty Championship
A beautiful sun-filled day greeted the 58 team field at the opening round of the 2021 SCGA Lefty-Righty Championship & Lefthanders Championship at Lake Marion Golf Club in Santee, SC. Barry Roof (Myrtle Beach) and Brent Roof (Columbia) combined seven birdies throughout their round to lead the Lefty-Righty Championship with a 7 under par round of 65. Six teams are within three shots of the Roof brothers heading into the final round of the championship.
In Lefthanders competition, there is a two-way tie between Scotty Davis (Charleston) and Stan Sill (Spartanburg) after each player shot 3 under par rounds of 69.
In Senior Lefty-Righty competition, Steve Horton (Columbia) and Rich Weston (Pawleys Island) lead after an opening round of 8 under par 64. The 2020 Senior Lefty-Righty Champion team of Ron Clontz (Greer) and Duff Wagner (Taylors) are just one shot off the leaders after firing a first round 65.
In Senior Lefthanders competition, Ron Clontz (Greer) leads after an opening round 69. He will take a two shot lead over Rich Weston (Pawleys Island) heading into the final round.
