Liebler Takes Hold of the Reigns Heading Into Final Round
Reigning SCGA Senior Champion Steve Liebler (Irmo) has his eyes set on capturing his second SCGA Senior Championship title after firing a stellar second round score of two under par 70 and a two-day total of six under par 138 to lead by three shots over the 2018 SCGA Senior Champion Rich Weston (Pawleys Island) at the 63rd Annual SCGA Senior Championship being held at the Country Club of Lexington from May 10-12, 2021.
Despite having two bogies throughout his second round, Liebler provided another display of steady golf by adding twelve pars and four birdies to catapult himself into a solo lead heading into the final round. Weston, regardless of being three shots behind Liebler, still has the ability and game for a comeback in the final round, in order to add his name for a second time to the Bob Causey Cup. Five shots behind Liebler is a two-way tie for third between Eddie Hargett (Blythewood) and Bob Edens (Columbia), after finishing with two-day totals of one under par 143.
The Final Round of the SCGA Senior Championship will begin at 8:00 am on Wednesday off of #1 & #10 tees with 51 players participating in the final round after making the cut.
