Champions Crowned at Mixed Team Championship

The teams of Kevin Tindal (Rock Hill) and Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill) along with Thomas Eberhard (Johns Island) and Diane Eberhard (Johns Island) both proved victorious in their respective divisions to become 2020 Champions at the 22^nd Annual SCGA – WSCGA Mixed Team Championship being held at Rock Hill Country Club in Rock Hill, SC.

In the Championship Division, the father and daughter duo of Kevin and Jodee Tindal shot a two day total of two under 142 to win by two shots over the 2018 SCGA-WSCGA Mixed Team Champion team of Jeremy Moore (Mt. Pleasant) and Emily Rapp (Greenville). Playing the final round select drive – alternate shot format, Kevin and Jodee held tight with a final round score of 76 after battling through off and on rain showers and wind gusts throughout the day.

In the Senior Division, Thomas and Diane Eberhard came from behind to claim the victory after a final round score of 75 and a tournament total of 147. Behind one stroke coming into the final round, the Eberhard’s played well enough to claim the title by one stroke over the 2019 SCGA-WSCGA Mixed Team Senior Champion team of Mark Hoover (Mt. Pleasant) and Lea Anne Brown (Mt. Pleasant).

The 2020 WSCGA/SCGA Mixed Team Championship was played at Rock Hill Country Club in Rock Hill, SC. The field consisted of 41 man & woman teams playing a Best Ball format the first day and a Select Drive-Alternate Shot format the second day. The Mixed Team Championship is in its 22nd year of existence.

The SCGA, founded in 1929, is the governing body for amateur golf in South Carolina. As a non-profit organization, the SCGA’s purpose is to promote, preserve and serve the game of golf. Made up of more than 270 member clubs and more than 50,000 individual members, the SCGA annually conducts 21 SCGA statewide championships, 59 one-day contests, eight USGA qualifiers, seven 40-plus tournaments and six special events. Other Member services offered include GHIN – the USGA Handicap Computation System, Golf Genius Tournament Management Software System and support, Rules of Golf and Handicap education, USGA Course/Slope Ratings and Course measuring, Amateur Status information, the Palmetto Golfer Magazine and the SC Golf Hall of Fame. The SCGA also houses the offices of the SC Junior Golf Foundation and SC Junior Golf Association in a combined effort to support junior golf and grow the game’s initiatives.
