2020 SCGA MID-AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP – QUALIFYING INFORMATION

Qualifying Information

A qualifier for the Mid-Amateur Championship will be held on Thursday, October 1st, 2020 for individuals that are not accepted into the immediate field of 114 by either exempt status or the lowest handicap index.  Since this qualifier is taking place during the Practice Round day, there is no opportunity for a SCGA hosted practice round for the qualifier.  Individuals that are not accepted into the immediate field must notify the SCGA prior to noon on September 28th, 2020 as to whether or not they wish participate in the qualifying round.

Should the SCGA not hear from an individual about qualifying, we will consider the individual NOT Qualifying.

Qualifying Format: USGA rules apply. 18 Holes of stroke play. The stipulated round will consist of two nine hole rounds. In the case of inclement weather or any other factor, nine hole scores will be used. If all 18 holes are completed by the entire field, the USGA method of tiebreaking will be used. In the case of 9 holes completed by the entire field, the USGA method of tiebreaking will also be used on the completed nine. Should the field not complete nine holes, qualifying spots will be determined by lowest handicap index as of July 24th, 2020. Any other ties for the last qualifying position will be determined by lot.

Successful Qualifiers: Participants who successfully qualify for the SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship will not be charged an additional amount beyond the entry fee of $180.

Unsuccessful Qualifiers: Qualifying participants who are unsuccessful at qualifying for the SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship will be charged $80 for participating in the qualifier (The $80 includes cart fee and qualifier fee). The SCGA will keep $80 of the original $180 entry fee and will refund the participant $100 back to the card used to register.

Tee Times and Pairings: Pairings for the qualifying round will be available September 28th from the SCGA web site.

Refunds: Individuals that do not participate in the qualifier have not been charged and will be pulled from the Mid-Amateur Championship waitlist.
