Two Teams Tied Atop Leaderboard at Mid-Am Four-Ball Championship
The teams of Kevin King (Bluffton) & Todd White (Roebuck) along with Ben Karns (Johns Island) & Patrick Townes (Mount Pleasant) are tied for the lead after both teams shot a first round score of nine under par 63 at the SCGA Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship being held at the Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, SC.
The team of King and White combined for nine birdies to take an early lead as they teed off in the early portion of tee times. King and White are no stranger to capturing titles and they are in position to grab another. King captured the 2019 SCGA Senior Championship along with being inducted recently into the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame and White captured the Carolinas Match Play Championship victory in June. Karns and Townes provided fireworks throughout the afternoon by combining ten birdies, seven pars, and one lone bogey throughout their round to sit in a tie at the top with King and White. The two teams hold a one shot advantage over five other teams heading into the final round of the Championship. The 2019 SCGA Mid-Am Four-Ball Champion team of Jordan Sease (Lexington) and Brandon Truesdale (Rock Hill) are just two shots behind and will look to repeat as champions.
The final round will begin at 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning with the leaders teeing off at 1:11 p.m.

The 2020 SCGA Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship is being played at the par 72 – 6,725 yard Bulls Bay Golf Club. The field consists of 64 two-man teams over the age of 25 playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty-six holes. The Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship is in its 26th year of existence.
The SCGA, founded in 1929, is the governing body for amateur golf in South Carolina. As a non-profit organization, the SCGA’s purpose is to promote, preserve and serve the game of golf. Made up of more than 270 member clubs and more than 50,000 individual members, the SCGA annually conducts 21 SCGA statewide championships, 59 one-day contests, eight USGA qualifiers, seven 40-plus tournaments and six special events.
