Lee and Twilley Take First Round Lead at Lefty-Righty Championship
A beautiful sun-filled day greeted the 60 team field at the opening round of the 2020 SCGA Lefty-Righty Championship & Lefthanders Championship at Lake Marion Golf Club in Santee, SC. Brian Lee (Blythewood) and Ben Twilley (Columbia) combined 10 birdies throughout their round to lead the Lefty-Righty Championship with a 10 under par round of 62. The 2019 SCGA Lefty-Righty Champion team of Daniel Ezelle (Taylors) and Jeremy Revis (Greenville) continue to stare down a chance at a back-to-back victory as they are just three shots off of the leaders by firing an opening round score of 7 under par 65.
In Lefthanders competition, Reid Bedell (Spartanburg) holds a first-round lead by two shots over Christian Baliker (Simpsonville), after Bedell opened the Lefthanders Championship with an impressive 4 under par round of 68. In a two-way tie for third, Brian Lee (Blythewood) and multi-time Lefthanders Champion, Brent Roof (Columbia), are just four shots back of the leader after opening rounds of even par 72.
In Senior Lefty-Righty competition, Mike Daniels (Murrells Inlet) and John Long (Murrells Inlet) lead by one stroke after an opening round score of 5 under par 67. Steve Horton (Moncks Corner) and Rich Weston (Pawleys Island) stand right behind the leaders after a first round total of 68. Ron Clontz (Taylors) and Duff Wagner (Greer) are in third place heading into the field round after a 3 under par round of 69.
In Senior Lefthanders competition, the 2018 SCGA Senior Champion and 2019 Senior Lefthanders Champion, Rich Weston (Pawleys Island), leads by four shots over Mike Daniels (Murrells Inlet) after Weston fired a 1 under par round of 71.
