Ramey Victorious at Orangeburg Forty Plus

Beautiful blue skies and sunshine greeted the players at the fourth 40 Plus Series event of 2019 at Orangeburg Country Club as Doug Ramey of Greer captured the victory with a round of two under par 70. Columbia’s Dan Sullivan finished alone in second place after a round of 71 followed by Greenville’s Jeremy Revis, winner of the Green Valley 40 Plus Series Event, with an even par round.

In the Tournament Net Division, Kip Bouknight (Lexington) and Marc Horne (Summerville) tied for first place both finishing with a net totals of 68. Taking third place was Carey Evans (Spartanburg) with a net total of 70.

In the Senior Gross Division, Rich Houghton (Elgin) took low honors after a gross score of one under par 71. Finishing in a two way tie for second place was Gary Odom (Greenwood) and Chris Koon (Simpsonville) after each player finished with gross scores of 74.

In the Senior Net Division, Ed Galbavy (Seabrook Island) captured the victory with a net score of 70. David Christian (Columbia) and Scott Coleman (Anderson) finished one shot back with net totals of 71 for a second place tie.  

In the Super Senior Gross Division, Mike Calkins (Columbia) finished with a score of 76 to edge out Bo Leslie (Simpsonville) and John Baldea (Myrtle Beach) by one stroke. In the Super Senior Net Division, Donald Stegall (Lexington) grabbed first place with a net score of 70.

The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 93 players playing Orangeburg Country Club in Orangeburg, SC. This event was the fourth of seven 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2019. The next 40 Plus event will be held on October 21^st at Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, SC.
