Truesdale and Lightsey Take Title
It took six playoff holes, but Brandon Truesdale (Rock Hill) and Jamie Lightsey (Indian Land) are the 2019 Players Four Ball Champions after a final round score of 64 and a two-day total of fifteen under par 129. Robert Dargan (Columbia) and Jon O’Brien (Columbia) finished in second place and Thomas Todd (Laurens) and Matt Wiggins (Laurens) finished in third.
Truesdale and Lightsey’s final round of 64 consisted of seven birdies and was highlighted by a Lightsey hole in one on the par three fifth hole. At the end of the day, the Championship duo found themselves in three-way tie after the team bogied their final hole of the day, the 405 yard par four second hole. After making all pars on the first five holes of the playoff, a Lightsey birdie on the par four sixth capped their title run.
Taking the top spot in the First Flight was the team of Chris Eassy (Greer) and Scott Friday (Simpsonville) with a final round score of 66 for a two-day total of 135. In the Second Flight, Jeff Sullivan (Mt. Pleasant) and Matt Wood (Hanahan) took the top honors with a final score of 139.
The 2019 SCGA Players Four-Ball Championship was played on the par 72 – 6,855-yard Columbia Country Club course in Blythewood, SC. The field consisted of 35 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty-six holes. The Players Four Ball Championship is one of 21 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
