2019 SCGA Amateur Championship – Round Two Results
Gray Leads After Second Round; Third Round Begins Saturday Afternoon
Greer, S.C. – The second round of the 88th SCGA Amateur Championship was finally completed Saturday morning after play was suspended on Friday afternoon due to heavy thunderstorms and rain. Fortunately, blue skies and few clouds greeted the remaining players who resumed play with an 8:00 AM Shotgun start.
Tyler Gray (Lugoff/Coastal Carolina) leads the pack by one stroke heading into the third round of the SCGA Amateur Championship that is being held at the Thornblade Club from August 1st-4th, 2019. After the second round was completed on Saturday morning, the field was cut to the low 70 and ties. Round three began at 12:30 PM with a double tee start on holes 1 & 10.
Following one stroke behind Gray is College of Charleston golfer, Logan Sowell (Kershaw), and first round leader, Jake Carter (Aiken/Florida State), each shooting two round totals of 134.

The 2019 SCGA Amateur Championship is being played at Thornblade Club over the par 71 – 6,703 yard Tom Fazio layout. The field consists of 144 players that were either exempt or qualified at one of four sites. The Amateur Championship is one of 21 Major Championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association and is in its 88th year of existence. The top 20 are exempt for next year’s championship which will be held at Columbia Country Club in Blythewood, SC.
