Ezelle and Revis Take First Round Lefty-Righty Lead

The team of Daniel Ezelle and Jeremy Revis fired a better ball score of ten under par 62 to take the first-round lead at the 43^rd SCGA Lefty-Righty Championship held at Lake Marion Golf Course in Santee, SC. The upstate pair recorded eight birdies and one eagle on the day and find themselves atop the leaderboard after the first round just as they did in 2018. The teams of Nicholas Beirs / Dixon Walker, Brent Roof / Jon Davis, and Daniel Coker / Mitchell Vance are tied for second place after all carding rounds of four under par 68.

In Lefthanders competition, former champion Stan Sill of Spartanburg holds a one-shot lead after an even par round of 72. Tied for second at one over par are Robert Dargan and Doug Wald after opening rounds of 73. Dixon Walker and Mitchell Vance find themselves two shots back after rounds of 74.

In Senior Lefty-Righty competition, two time defending champions Rich Weston and Steve Horton continued their strong play over the Lake Marion layout with an opening round better ball score of seven under par 65 and find themselves in a tie for first place with the Murrells Inlet duo of Michael Daniels and John Long. Jon Evans and Rick Dresel fired an opening round of three under par 69 and find themselves in solo third place heading into Sunday’s Final Round.

In Senior Lefthanders competition, two-time defending champion Rich Weston holds a four shot lead after a first round four under par 70. Harry Filyaw and Jon Evans are Weston’s nearest competitors, tied for second place with opening rounds of even par 72.

The 2019 SCGA Lefty-Righty / Lefthanders Championship is one of 21 major championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association. The 43^rd Annual event is being played on the 6,375 yard, par 72 golf course at Lake Marion Golf Course in Santee, SC.
