Page & Pope Victorious at Super Senior Four-Ball Championship

Roger Page (Duncan) & Tim Pope (Spartanburg) needed a one hole playoff to secure their wire to wire victory at the 5th Annual SCGA Super Senior Four-Ball Championship after a final round score of 66 and a tournament total of twelve under par 132. Coming up just shy of the SCGA Super Senior Four-Ball title was the upstate duo of Bobby Hines (Greenville) & Terry Willis (Greer), who finished in second after Roger Page birdied the first playoff hole. Finishing in solo third place was Jim Burgess (Murrells Inlet) & John Dennis (Greer) after a low round of the day 65 for a tournament total of 133. The first round co-leader team of Bob Rickman (Florence) & Bob Varn (Orangeburg) finished in a two way tie for fourth with Walter Odiorne (Blythewood) & Bernie Shealy (Columbia), both respectably finishing with two day totals of 134.

Another day at The Links at Stono Ferry full of sunshine and blue skies, Page & Pope played consistent golf over eighteen holes to assure themselves a spot in the playoff. The compilation of 11 pars, 5 birdies, an eagle on the Par 5 – 453 yard eighth hole, one lone bogey, and a playoff victory on the first hole secured their first SCGA Super Senior Four-Ball victory.

In the Championship Division Second Flight, Spencer Allen (Blythewood) & Gene Spencer (Blythewood) were victorious after finishing with a final round score of 72 and tournament total of one under par 143. The team of Steve Broome (Mt. Pleasant) & Fred Hyde (Daniel Island) finished in solo second with a two day total of 145.

The Legends Division was won by first round leaders Bob Albus (John's Island) & John Ward (Kiawah Island) after the duo finished with a tournament total of nine under par 135. Finishing alone in second place in the Legends Division was Carey Hite (Columbia) & Bill McDougall (Columbia) with a two day total of 142.

The 2019 SCGA Super Senior Four-Ball Championship was played at The Links at Stono Ferry in Hollywood, SC. The starting field consisted of 38 teams split into two divisions. The Championship Division was flighted based on Round One scores. The Championship Division consisted of players ages 65-69 that played to a yardage of 5,637 yards while the Legends Division consisted of players ages 70 and over that played to a yardage of 5,492 yards. The format for the two days of competition was Four-Ball Stroke Play.
