Revis Captures 40 Plus Victory at First Event
Jeremy Revis of Greenville was able to claim top honors in his first over 40 event at the third SCGA 40 Plus Series event of 2019 that was contested at Green Valley Country Club, after a round of five under par 67. Greenville’s Benji McGaha and Greer native Benji McCall finished tied for second place after rounds of two under par 70. Mike Hartin (Slater) finished alone in fourth place after a round of 71.
In the Tournament Net Division, there was a four way tie for first between Doug Ramey (Greer), Kurt Waldthausen (Simpsonville), Scott Mims (Edgefield), and Cason Mabry (Clinton) each with net rounds of 69. Tim Schwab (Travelers Rest) and Dean Nance (Greenville) finished in a tie for fifth each with a net score of 71.
In the Senior Gross Division, Duff Wagner of Taylors captured the victory after a chip off win against Mike Caprio (Greer). Both Wagner and Caprio shot rounds of three under par 69. Greenwood’s Gary Odom finished alone in third place after a respective round of 73.
In the Senior Net Division, Wayne Tucker (Greenwood) finished atop the leaderboard after a net score 64. Simpsonville’s Jim Justus finished just one shot behind Tucker after a net round of 65.
Bo Leslie (Simpsonville) took top gross honors in the Super Senior Gross Division after a round of 70 and a sudden death chip off with Doug Tooke (Greenville). In the Super Senior Net Division, Marshall Stewart (Easley) claimed the top spot after a round of net 64. Vince Williams (Columbia) finished alone in second place after a net round of 67.
The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 100 players playing Green Valley Country Club in Greenville, SC. This event was the third of seven 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2019. The next 40 Plus event will be held on September 23rd at Orangeburg Country Club in Orangeburg, SC.
