2019 SCGA Forty Plus Series – Florence Final Results

With cold weather and rain looming over SCGA events early this year, the skies finally opened to supply a warm and dry day for players at the second 40 Plus Series event of 2019 at Florence Country Club as Brian Quackenbush of Aiken was able to claim top honors with a round of four under par 67. Columbia’s John Obrien fell just short of a back-to-back 40 Plus win, finishing alone in second place after a round of 69. Local favorite, Mark Gaynor of Florence, finished in third place after a very respective round of 72.
In the Tournament Net Division, Dean Nance (Greenville) and Jeremy Little (Mauldin) tied for low net honors with a net total of 69. Paul Morario (Lexington) and Bobby Smith (Myrtle Beach) tied for third each having a net score of 70.
In the Senior Gross Division, Casey Smith (Abbeville) took low honors after a gross score of one under par 70. Finishing in second place was Gary Odom (Greenwood) with a gross score of 72.
In the Senior Net Division, Tony Redman (Lexington) and Gregory Conde (West Columbia) tied atop the leaderboard with a net score of 68. David Spearman (Florence) finished in third place with a net score of 69.
In the Super Senior Gross Division, Steve Johnson (Hilton Head) won the playoff over Scott Schwarz (Mount Pleasant) for first place after both participants finished with rounds of even par 71. In the Super Senior Net Division, John Baldea (Myrtle Beach) grabbed first place with a net score of 64.
The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 85 players playing Florence Country Club in Florence, SC. This event was the second of seven 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2019. The next 40 Plus event will be held on April 30th at Green Valley Country Club in Greenville, SC.
