Hopkins & Stanek Take Lead at Senior Four-Ball

Battling frigid temperatures and gusty winds, the team of Danny Hopkins (Murrells Inlet) and Alex Stanek (Conway) take control of the reigns heading into the final round of the 26^th Annual SCGA Senior Four-Ball Championship after an opening round of 6 under par 65 at Florence Country Club in Florence, SC.

Hopkins and Stanek didn’t need the weather to warm up to bring fire to the course. The duo compiled 7 birdies, 10 pars, and one lone bogey throughout their round to take the lead by one shot over the 2018 SCGA Senior Four-Ball Champion team of Mike Gravley (Greer) & Todd Webber (Moore). The teams of Rick Aldous & Chris Culler, Bert Atkinson & Sammy Truett, and Tim Pope & Stan Sill are just two shots off of the leaders after respective rounds of 67 but each team has plenty of experience to make a final round run to triumph.

The field will be split into three flights for the final round based on first round scores.

The Final Round will begin Wednesday, March 20^th at 8.00 a.m. with the leaders playing at 12:40 a.m.

The 2019 SCGA Senior Four Ball Championship is being played on the par 71 – 6,208 yard Florence Country Club in Florence, S.C. The field consists of 58 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Senior Four Ball Championship is one of 21 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
