Soggy Conditions Don’t Deter Field at SCGA Partners Championship

The 2019 version of the SCGA Partners Championship greeted the field of the Championship Division with soggy conditions at Spring Valley Country Club for the first round on Saturday. The team of Brandon Cemprola of Columbia and Ryan Reynolds of Camden hold a two shot lead over the field after firing an opening day score of 13 under par 59. Their day was highlighted by a bogey free round consisting of 11 birdies and an eagle on the par-five ninth hole firing 29 on the front and 30 on the final nine holes.

Four teams are tied two shots back at 11 under 61. They include Thomas Kenneday and Bo McCullough both of Aiken, Gregg Jones of Florence and Michael Maness of Greenville, Daniel Day of Seneca and Mickey Plyler of Clemson and Ron Clontz and Jason Woodard both of Greer. The Championship Division will head to The Members Club at Woodcreek in Blythewood for Sunday’s final round.

In the Tournament Division, two teams are tied at the top at nine under par 63. They include Dan Constantino and Greg Hogsed both of Greer and Mike Bellon of Columbia and Eric Nord of Blythewood. Four teams are one shot back tied at 64 after posting their scores today at The Members Club at Woodcreek.

The final round will be contested with a modified Texas Scramble format and will begin with a 9:30 shotgun start. For detailed scoring, final round pairings and other tournament information – 27^th SCGA Partners Championship.

The 2019 SCGA Partners Championship is being played at both Spring Valley Country Club and The Members Club at Woodcreek. The field consists of 100 two-man teams playing Captains Choice in the first round and a Modified Texas Scramble in the final round. The Championship Division competed at Spring Valley Country Club on Day One and will play The Member’s Club at Woodcreek on Day Two, vice versa for the Tournament Division. The Partners Championship is in its 27^th year of existence and is a fundraiser for the South Carolina Junior Golf Association.
