Sullivan & Asbell Out Front After First Round
Jeff Sullivan and Christopher Asbell jumped out to an early one-shot lead after an opening score of eight under par 64 in the SCGA Players Four Ball Championship being played at Columbia Country Club.
The Sullivan (Mt. Pleasant) and Asbell (Moncks Corner) team combined for nine birdies and one bogey to take a one-shot lead over Weston Bell (Piedmont) and Robert Lutomski (Simpsonville) heading into the final round on Sunday. Brian Amick (Sumter) and John Duke (Manning) finished the day three shots out of the lead after a round of 67.
Eight teams are tied for the lead in the First Flight after firing rounds of one under par 71. Two teams are tied for the top spot in the Second Flight at one over par 73.
The final round will begin with a 10:00 AM Shotgun on Sunday morning.
The 2018 SCGA Players Four-Ball Championship is being played on the par 72 – 6,855 yard Columbia Country Club course in Blythewood, SC. The field consists of 46 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty-six holes. The Championship had to be rescheduled to this particular weekend due to the impacts of Hurricane Florence in September. The Players Four Ball Championship is one of 21 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
