Geno Berchiatti of Greenville was able to claim top honors at the SCGA 40+ Series event contested at historic Palmetto Golf Club, after a round of two under par 69. Greer’s Doug Ramey and Chesnee native Kevin Roberts finished tied for second place after rounds of one over par 72. Yancey Johnson (Simpsonville) finished alone in fourth place after a round of 73.
In the Tournament Net Division, Howie Beasley (Chapin) and Chris Christiansen tied for top honors after rounds of net 72. David League (Travelers Rest), Hank Foy (Hampton), and Blake Hodge (Varnville) finished tied for third place after rounds of net 73.
In the Senior Gross Division, Greenwood’s Gary Odom once again found himself in the winner’s circle after a one over par round of 72. Greer’s Mike Gravley and Lexington native Carter Harmon finished tied for second place after firing rounds of 76. Mark Torres (Mauldin) finished alone in fourth place after a round of 78.
In the Senior Net Division, Gary Allen (Laurens) and Dennis Guerriero (Lexington) tied for low honors after net scores of 73. Norman Page (Woodruff) and Sammy Butler (Irmo) finished tied for third place after rounds of net 75.
Tim Pope (Spartanburg) took top gross honors in the Super Senior Gross Division after a round of 76 and a sudden death chip off with Darrell Thompson (Graniteville). In the Super Senior Net Division, Danny Epting (Aiken) claimed the top spot after a round of net 69. Simpsonville’s Chris Bigalke finished alone in second place after a net round of 76.
The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 92 players playing Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, SC. This event was the fifth of seven 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2018. The next 40 Plus event will be held on November 13th at The Country Club of Spartanburg in Spartanburg, SC.
