Crout and Liebler Take First Round Lead

Blue skies and sunshine greeted the players at the 45^th Annual SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship held at Santee Cooper Country Club. Rick Crout and Steve Liebler opened the tournament with a 6 under par round of 66 to take a one shot lead over 2012 SCGA Senior Better Ball Champions Jim Burgess and Steve Horton heading into the final round on Sunday. Just two shots back of the leaders and in prime striking distance is a trio of teams consisting of Bobby Newman and Stan Sill, Perry Barnette and Ric Edgar, and the 2014 Senior Better Ball Champion team of Kevin Arnold and David Politi after each team shot respectable rounds of 68.

The field will be split into four flights for Sunday’s final round based on first round scores. The Final round will begin on Sunday morning with a 10:00 AM Shotgun start.

The 2018 SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship is being played at the par 72 – 6,369 yard Santee Cooper Country Club. The field consists of 58 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Senior Better Ball Championship is in its 45^th year of existence.
