Ezelle and Revis Take First Round Lefty-Righty Lead

The team of Daniel Ezelle and Jeremy Revis fired a better ball score of six under par 66 to take the first-round lead at the 42^nd SCGA Lefty-Righty Championship held at Lake Marion Golf Course in Santee, SC. The upstate duo recorded five birdies and one eagle on the day, their lone blemish coming with a bogey at the par 4 tenth hole. The teams of Cally Bell / Joe Hendrick and Alan Ward / Doug Barth sit just one shot out of the lead heading into Sunday’s final round after recording rounds of five under par 67.

In Lefthanders competition, former champion Brent Roof of Columbia holds a two-shot lead after an even par round of 72. Tied for second at two over par are Cally Bell (last year’s runner-up), Erwin Raska, and Matt Talley. Defending champion Stan Sill is three shots off the lead after an opening round 75.

In Senior Lefty-Righty competition, defending champions Rich Weston and Steve Horton continued their strong play over the Lake Marion layout with an opening round better ball score of six under par 66. The pair recorded two eagles and two birdies with no bogeys in their round and hold a two-shot lead over the team of Harry Filyaw and Johnny Jackson.

In Senior Lefthanders competition, defending champion and 2018 SCGA Senior Championship winner Rich Weston holds a three-shot lead after a first round two under par 70. Harry Filyaw is Weston’s nearest competitor, alone in second place with an opening round 73.

The 2018 SCGA Lefty-Righty / Lefthanders Championship is one of 21 major championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association. The 42^nd Annual event is being played on the 6,375 yard, par 72 golf course at Lake Marion Golf Course in Santee, SC.
