55th Annual Four-Ball Championship – Round of 32 Results
Round of 32 Completed as Round of 16 Pushes to Saturday
After the first round of Match Play at Musgrove Mill, upsets and close matches were the prevalent stories of the day as Mother Nature cloaked players with rain once again.
In the morning matches, the Medalist Team of Jamie Lightsey and Tyler Tucker posted a 3 & 2 victory over Wes and Tom Reeves to advance to the Round of 32. The number 30 seeded team of Chris Ehlich and Doug Ramey earned a hard fought 1-Up victory over three seed Mike Gravley and Jeremy Revis. Three matches in the morning session needed extra holes to decide the outcome. Kyle Milner and Bryan Kelley needed 19 holes to defeat Travis Cashion and Chandler Vilcheck. Cal Brock and Colt Martin needed 20 holes to defeat Stan Sill and Jeff Stephens. In a battle of standout Mid-Amateurs, Matt Laydon and Chris Mitchell needed 19 holes to take down Yancey Johnson and Josh Branyon.
Only two matches were able to finish in the Round of 16 when play was suspended at 6:10 PM due to rain and lightning in the area. Cody Clepper and Peyton Shore defeated Max Fain and Todd Whitehead 5&4. Jamie Lightsey and Tyler Tucker continued their fine play with a 5 & 4 defeat of Zach Herold and Hunter Parks.
The Round of 16 will resume Saturday morning at 8:00 AM with six matches still on the golf course. The Quarterfinal matches will follow tomorrow morning with the Semifinals beginning tomorrow afternoon.
