Low Scores Abound After Round One

After the first round of the SCGA Four Ball Championship, the teams of Jamie Lightsey and Tyler Tucker along with Lee Palms and Wesley Harden find themselves atop the leader board after firing rounds of eight under par 64.

Sunny skies and relatively calm conditions made the challenging Musgrove Mill layout ripe for scoring at the 55^th edition of the annual team competition. Lightsey and Tucker got off to a hot start birdieing four of their first five holes adding four more on their inward nine en route to their bogey free 64. Palms and Harden carded four front nine birdies and five more on the back nine including three in a row on holes 14 through 16. Their lone bogey of the day came at the difficult par four eighteenth.

Sitting alone in third place, after an opening round of seven under par 65, is the side of Jay McAllister and Tim Dunlavey. Brandon Truesdale and Walt Todd find themselves two shots off the lead after a round of six under par 66.    

Fifty-four teams are vying for the 31 spots that qualify for the Match Play portion of the event that begins on Friday. Defending Champions Raymond Wooten and Mickey Plyler have secured the top seed in Match Play by virtue of their victory last year.

The Second Round of Stroke Play Qualifying will begin Thursday morning at 8:00 AM off of holes #1 and #10.

The 2018 SCGA Four-Ball Championship is one of 21 major championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association. The 55^th Annual event is being played on the 6,779 yard, par 72 golf course at Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, South Carolina.
