Weston Dominant in Opening Round

Rich Weston shot an opening round score of eight under par 64 to take a three shot lead in the 60th Annual SCGA Senior Championship being held at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, SC. Spartanburg’s Stan Sill and Laurens’ Walter Todd are tied for second with opening round scores of 67. Rounding out the top three is Tobin Turner of Greenville, who finished his first round with a score of four under par 68.

Weston’s day was filled with blue skies, sunshine, and birdies. He began his round with birdies on the first three holes followed by two more birdies on holes 5 & 8. After turning at 5 under, Weston continued his immaculate play on the back nine adding a birdie on hole 10, an eagle on hole 13, and adding another birdie on hole 16 before dropping his lone shot of the day with a bogey on the 530-yard par five 18^th hole.

Round Two of the SCGA Senior Championship will begin at 7:30 am off of #1 tee at The Patriot Golf Club.

The 2018 SCGA Senior Championship is being played on the 6,341yard Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, SC. The starting field consisted of 89 players over the age of 55 and will be cut to the low 60 and ties after the first two days of play.
