Tadd Fujikawa (St. Simons Island, GA), Tommy Schaff (Ridgeland, SC), DJ Trahan (Charleston, SC), Cody Proveaux (Lexington, SC), and Matt Oquinn (Beaufort, SC) have all qualified at Belfair Plantation’s West Course (7,072 yards, Par 72) in Bluffton, SC to advance to Sectional Qualifying for the 118th US Open Championship. Tadd Fujikawa (pictured) took the medalist honors with a five under score of 67.
Oquinn needed a birdie on the first playoff hole to take the final spot at 70. Drew Weaver (Atlanta, GA) took the first alternate position after a two hole playoff and Arjun Puri needed five extra holes to lock down the second alternate position.
78 players started the event playing for five spots and two alternates to participate in the 2018 United States Open Championship that will be conducted at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y. on June 11 – 17, 2018.
