Greer native Doug Ramey was able to claim top honors at the SCGA 40+ Series event contested at The River Golf Club in North Augusta. Ramey battled rain, wind, and cold temperatures to fire an even par round of 71 and a five shot victory. John O'Brien (Columbia) finished alone in second place after a round of 76.
In the Tournament Net Division, Abbeville's Casey Smith earned the top spot after a round of net 72. Daran Womack and Dean Nance tied for second after net rounds of 77.
In the Senior Gross Division, Glen Hurt (North Augusta) took home the title after carding a four over par round of 75. Columbia's Bob Edens finished two shots back after a round of 77.
In the Senior Net Division, John Ivester (Greenwood) claimed low honors after a net score of 68. Darryl Averyhart (Columbia) finished alone in second place after a net score of 73.
And in the Super-Senior Division, Greg Schachner (Elgin) found himself atop the leader board after a solid round of 79. Columbia's Vince Williams took low net honors after a round of 75.
The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 67 players playing The River Golf Club in North Augusta, SC. This event was the second of seven 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2018. The next 40 Plus event will be held May 7 at Debordieu Club in Georgetown, SC.
