Five players earned their way into sectional qualifying for the 2017 US Open which will be held at Erin Hills in Erin, WI June 15-18. Will Starke of Mount Pleasant, SC led the field with a seven under par 65. The former University of South Carolina Gamecock recorded seven birdies and eleven pars to earn medalist honors. Phillip Mollica, also of Mount Pleasant, and Michael Cromie of Cary, NC each recorded five under par 67 to punch their own tickets into sectional qualifying. Blake Kennedy of Campobello, SC earned his spot into sectionals with a two under par 70. In a four-man sudden death playoff, Eric Bae of Pinehurst outlasted Keenan Huskey (Columbia), Evan Grenus (Glastonbury, CT), and Andrew Novak (Mount Pleasant) to claim final qualifying spot.
