34th Annual Palmetto Cup Matches
Amateurs Top Professionals
The top Amateurs in South Carolina regained the Palmetto Cup over the SC PGA pros with 29.5-18.5 victory in the 34th Palmetto Cup Matches played at the Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, SC. The latest edition of the Palmetto Cup Matches were postponed five months due to the historic rains last October.
On Sunday, the two man teams from each association competed in a Four Ball match play competition, and on Monday, the competition featured a Captains Choice format. Three points were available in each match – one point for winning the front nine, one point for winning the back nine and one point for winning the overall match.
Overall, the SCGA has 18 wins, the SCPGA has 15 wins, and there has been 1 tie in past Palmetto Cup Matches. One match was cancelled due to weather in 1997.
