Hargett and Todd Take Early Lead at Senior Four Ball

Playing in their first SCGA Senior Four Ball, Eddie Hargett and Walter Todd jumped to an early lead after an impressive seven under par score of 65 in the first round at Dataw Island. Four other teams are three shots back at 68.

Battling gusty winds and quick greens, Hargett and Todd got off to a quick start and never looked back making a total of nine birdies and two bogies on the day for their three shot margin of lead. The tandem is fairly new to senior golf but seem to play well together as they teamed to win their inaugural event back in September capturing the SCGA Senior Better Ball.

The field was split into three flights after the first round based on score. Leading the First Flight are seven teams tied at even par 72. On top of the Second Flight are also seven teams with scores of 76.

Final round pairings will begin Tuesday March 22nd at 8.00 a.m. with the leaders playing at 12.50 a.m.

The 2016 SCGA Senior Four Ball Championship is being played on the par 72 – 6,382 yard Cotton Dike course at the Dataw Island Club in Dataw Island, S.C. The field consists of 59 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Senior Four Ball Championship is one of 21 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
