Dan Sullivan of Columbia was the only player to shoot even par on Monday at The River Golf Club to capture the first SCGA 40 Plus Series event of 2016. Battling strong winds, Sullivan compiled six birdies during his round offsetting six bogeys to finish at even par 71. Randy Lamb and Jeff Pope, both from North Augusta and members of The River Golf Club, along with Dean Nance of Greenville respectively finished with 1-Over rounds of 72 to tie for second place in the Tournament Gross Division.

In the Tournament Net Division, John Fisher of Greenwood took low honors with a net score of 65. James Harris of Marietta finished in second with a net score of 68.

In the Senior Gross Division, Glen Hurt of North Augusta captured the victory after a “chip off” on the 18^th hole with Bob Edens of Columbia. Both players shot rounds of 2-Over par 73.

In the Senior Net Division, Tom Leyen of Sumter finished atop the leaderboard with a net score of 65. There was a two way tie for second between Buddy Trivett of Blythewood and Jerry Sprouse of Greenwood each finishing with a net score of 69.

The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for the golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 87 players playing The River Golf Club. This event was the first of seven 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2016. The next 40 Plus event will be played on April 19th at the Thornblade Club in Greer, SC.
