Champions Take To the Links Despite Freezing Temperatures

Arctic air and sunshine greeted 82 players during the first round of the 20th Annual SCGA Tournament of Champions held at The Tradition Golf Club in Pawleys Island, SC.

After the completion of round one, the leader in Men’s Club Division is Wade Ramsey (York) with a three under par score of 69. In the Senior Club Division, Andy Congdon (Garden City) shot a two under par score of 70 to lead by two strokes. Josh McMillan (Boiling Springs) and Oren Wood (Hollywood) are tied at the top of the One Day Gross Division with scores of 73. Chris Barnes (Greenwood) has a one shot lead in the One Day Senior Division with a score of 79. Chrissie Spidell (Anderson) has a one stroke lead over Makalyn Poole (Williamston) in the Women’s Division after and opening round 82. In the One Day Net Division, Paul Turner (Columbia) is atop the leaderboard with a net score of 68.

The final round will begin with a 11:00 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday, February 14th.

The 2016 Tournament of Champions is being played over the Tradition Golf Club layout in Pawleys Island, S.C. The field consists 82 men & women Club and One Day tournament Champions throughout South Carolina. The Tournament of Champions is one of 21 Major Championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association and is in its 20th year of existence.
