2015 SCGA 40+ Series – The Walker Course at Clemson University
Liner birdies way to victory at 40 Plus
Mims Liner of Irmo recorded five birdies in his round in route to a 3-under par score of 69 to claim Low Gross at the SCGA 40 Plus Series event held at the Walker Course at Clemson University. Liner started off hot as he birdied two of his first three holes, adding three more later in the round to secure victory. Casey Smith of Abbeville and Marty Henson of Greenville tied for second low gross with even par rounds of 72.
Carey Evans of Spartanburg took Low Net honors with a net score of 66. Jonsie Alexander of Donalds came in second with a net score of 68.
In the Senior Division, Terry Willis of Taylors bested his nearest competitor by seven strokes, shooting 1-under par 71 to take Low Gross. Bob Potter of North Charleston finished second gross with a 78. Rollie Sumwalt of Taylors won Low Net with a net score of 66. Edwin Strom of Edgefield finished in second with a net score of 70.
The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for the golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 57 players playing The Walker Course at Clemson University. This event was the second of seven 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2015. The next 40 Plus event will be played on June 22nd at The Reserve at Woodside in Aiken, SC (rescheduled from April 20th).
