Smith’s Strong Play Leads to 40 Plus Victory

Coming off a top ten finish at the South Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship, Casey Smith continued his strong play to win the SCGA Forty Plus Series Event at the Holly Tree Country Club in Simpsonville, SC. Smith used six birdies on the day, birdying every par-5 plus two more birdies on par-4's, to cruise to a four shot victory.
In the Net Division, Tim Schwab of Simpsonville took the first place award with a net score of 65.
The 40 Plus is a series of events conducted for the golfers across South Carolina, over the age of 40. The field consisted of 46 players, playing on the 6,438 yard Holly Tree Country Club course. This event was the sixth of eight 40 Plus events the SCGA will conduct in 2012. The next 40 Plus event will be played on November 19th at the Wachesaw Plantation Club in Murrells Inlet, SC.
