Caldwell and Montgomery Take First Round Lead at Lefty-Righty Championship

A beautiful sun-filled day greeted the 61 team field at the opening round of the 2022 SCGA Lefty-Righty Championship & Lefthanders Championship at Lake Marion Golf Club in Santee, SC. Allen Caldwell (West Ashley) and Josh Montgomery (Sumter) carded 9 birdies and a pair of bogeys to shoot an opening round of 7under par round of 65. Eight teams are within two shots of Caldwell and Montgomery heading into the final round of the championship.

In the Lefthanders competition, there is a two-way tie between Rye Tifft (Blythewood) and Thomas Spangler (Fountain Inn) after each player shot 2 under par rounds of 70.

In the Senior Lefty-Righty competition, Steve Horton (Moncks Corner) and Rich Weston (Pawleys Island) lead after an opening round of 6 under par 66. The Murrells Inlet duo of Mike Daniels and John Long find themselves three shots behind after an opening round of 3 under par 69.

In the Senior Lefthanders competition, Rich Weston (Pawleys Island) leads after an opening round 68. He will take a comfortable lead over Mike Daniels (Murrells Inlet) heading into the final round.
