Red Numbers Dominate First Round of SCGA Four-Ball Championship
After the first round of the SCGA Four-Ball Championship, there is a three-way tie atop the leaderboard with the teams of Zach Herold (Lexington) & Sam Jackson (West Columbia), Cheney Connell (Blythewood) & Jon Mathias (Columbia), and Josh Branyon (Honea Path) & Blake Williamson (Anderson). Each team provided low scores of eight under par 64 for their opening round.
Even as challenging as the Musgrove Mill layout is, only a slight breeze throughout the day helped give way to a plethora of teams that would start their SCGA Four-Ball venture by providing under par rounds.
Two teams sit in a tie for fourth after posting opening round scores of 65. Those teams include the brother duo of David Dargan (Columbia) & Robert Dargan (Columbia) along with Grant Sellers (McBee) & Trevor Gerard (Hartsville).
Fifty-one teams are vying for the 31 spots that qualify for the Match Play portion of the event that begins on Friday. Defending Champions Brent Delahoussaye (Greenville) and Charles Warren (Greenville) have secured the top seed in Match Play by virtue of their victory in 2021.
The Second Round of Stroke Play Qualifying will begin Thursday morning at 8:00 AM off of holes #1 and #10.
