Entering the day with one-shot behind the lead, Chase Cline of Chapin fired a final-round score of one-under par 71 to claim the 66th SCGA Junior Championship title. Cline had three birdies today to finish the tournament with an overall score of three-under par 213.
“I started the day pretty slow,” Jeffords said. “I was hitting it pretty good, but really just couldn't get anything to fall off the putter. I birdied nine to make the turn at even, and then realized I was 2 to 3 shots back of the lead. I knew I had to do something quick, and I made a pretty bad bogey on 11. After that, I just dialed in and took advantage of the holes, and the odds turned out in my favor”.
2023 SCJGA Player of the Year, Bennett Scaletta of Belton, and Coleman Ferguson of Columbia all finished the tournament with an overall score of two-under par 214 to tie for second place.
The top eight finishers qualified for the 49th annual Georgia-South Carolina Junior Team Matches. This year’s Junior Champion, Chase Cline, is unable to play in the Matches, due to a prior commitment. The 2024 South Carolina team is comprised of Bennett Scaletta, Sage Bradshaw, Dylan Park, Teddy Dunn, Grant Paolucci, Owen Atkinson, Groves Williams, and Will Ruth. The matches will be played July 27-28 at The Preserve Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia.
