The Country Club of Lexington Claims Lathrop Cup
The Country Club of Lexington amateur three man team combined to shoot a total of four over par 217 to win the 2021 SCGA Lathrop Cup. The Country Club of Lexington was represented by Professional Steven Hartwig and amateurs Ben Jett, Rusty Massey, and Stan Rawl. Columbia Country Club represented by Assistant Professional Ryan Byers with amateurs Walter Odiorne, Bernie Shealy, and Dan Sullivan finished in second place with a 222 total.
In the Pro-Am portion of the event, there was a three-way tie between The Country Club of Lexington, Holly Tree Country Club, and The Thornblade Club. Each team shot a low two-ball score of eight under par 134.
The 2021 SCGA Lathrop Cup was played on the par 71 - 6,149 yard The River Golf Club course in North Augusta, SC. The field consisted of 21 teams playing in both the Lathrop Cup and the Lathrop Cup Pro-Am. The Lathrop Cup is comprised of three amateurs over the age of 55 from the same club using the aggregate of their three scores to determine the Senior Club Championship of South Carolina. The Pro-Am portion of the event uses the best two balls of the group, including the club professional. The Lathrop Cup is named after long time SCGA Executive Director Happ Lathrop.
