Delahoussaye & Warren Claim SCGA Four-Ball Title
After a 19 Hole battle in the final round of match play at the SCGA Four-Ball Championship, the team of Brent Delahoussaye (Greenville) and Charles Warren (Greenville) have claimed the title of SCGA Four-Ball Champions at the Musgrove Mill Golf Club in Clinton, SC.
The team of Delahoussaye and Warren found themselves down early in the match against Jay McAllister (Myrtle Beach) and Michael Sims (Lexington) by being 2 Down heading to the Par-3 Seventh Hole. Delahoussaye and Warren would right the ship with a par on the seventh hole to cut the deficit to 1 Down. After both teams provided pars on the eighth hole, Delahoussaye would birdie the 574-Yard Par-5 9th Hole to tie the match heading to the back nine. The teams stayed tied through the 12th Hole but a McAllister birdie on the Par-5 13th Hole would propel McAllister and Sims to a 1 Up advantage. After a tie on the 14th Hole, Delahoussaye would provide a birdie on the 15th hole to take the match back to tied. As the two teams continued to trade punches in an epic heavyweight battle, the reachable 508-Yard Par-5 16th hole proved what match play is all about: mental toughness and grit. After McAllister hit his second shot in the greenside waste area, he would hole out his sand shot for an eagle, forcing the team of Delahoussaye and Warren to either make it or see themselves 1 Down with two to play. Instead, Warren drained an imposing 30-footer to keep the match tied. As the match remained tied through the 17th and 18th holes, extra holes would be needed to break the stalemate.
After 19 Holes, Delahoussaye and Warren would capture the 2021 SCGA Four-Ball title with a Delahoussaye birdie.
