Weston and Daniels Ride Second Round Surge to Victory

Heading into the final round of the 46^th Annual SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship, Rich Weston (Pawleys Island) and Mike Daniels (Murrells Inlet) found themselves four shots off the lead but knew that a strong final round could stir the pot on an already crowded leaderboard. Weston, the 2018 SCGA Senior Champion, and Daniels, half of the 2018 Super Senior Four Ball Championship team, are no strangers to winning SCGA events. After an opening round score of 69, Weston and Daniels steadily compiled eight birdies, one bogey, and nine pars for a final round score of 65 to capture the 2019 SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship with a two day total of 134. The first round leader duo of Rich Rebholz (Rock Hill) and Jim Wise (Columbia) finished in solo second with a tournament total of 135.

In the First Flight, the 2018 SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship Team of Steve Liebler (Irmo) and Rick Crout (Mount Pleasant) finished in a tie for first with David Politi (Hilton Head) and Kevin Arnold (Hilton Head), each finishing with two day totals of 138. In the Second Flight, Bernie Shealy (Columbia) and Walter Odiorne (Blythewood) claimed top honors after a final round score of 68 and tournament total of 142. In the Third Flight, Chris Barnes (Greenwood) and David Flora (Waterloo) finished with a tournament total of 152 to claim their respective flight victory.

The 2019 SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship was played at the par 72 – 6,369 yard Santee Cooper Country Club. The field consisted of 53 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Senior Better Ball Championship is in its 46^th year of existence.
