40th Annual Lefty Righty & 45th Annual Lefthanders Championship
First Round leaders and the 2015 Lefty-Righty Champion team of Robert & David Dargan of Columbia held off the hard charging team of Ron Clontz & Todd Hendley to win the 2016 SCGA Lefty-Righty Championship for a second straight year with a two round total of twenty under par 124. The victory not only marks the Dargan’s second SCGA Lefty-Righty title together, it also marks Robert’s 10th overall. The brother duo began their second round with a score of 5 under par 31 on the front nine and completed another dynamic round with a 32 on the back nine for a 9 under par round of 63. The team of Ron Clontz & Todd Hendley, both of Greer, fell just two shots short of the Dargan Brothers after firing their respective round of 10 under par 62 to finish with a two day total of 126. Past champions, Matt Talley (Spartanburg) and Tyler Macolly (Spartanburg) finished tied for third place with Kevin Burton (Irmo) and Levi Joiner (Prosperity).
In Lefthanders competition, Robert Dargan hit another milestone by recording his 10th Lefthanders victory. Dargan followed up his first round 69 with another consistent three under par round of 69, for a two day total of six under par 138. Stan Sill of Spartanburg finished just two shots back at 140.
In Senior Lefty-Righty competition, Mike Daniels and John Long of Murrells Inlet won for the second straight year finishing with a two day total of 137. The team of Jon Evans (Hollywood) & Rick Dressel (Goose Creek) came up just one shot behind at 138.
In Senior Lefthanders competition, Jon Evans (Hollywood) claimed top prize yet again with a two day total of five over par 149 while Bob Cibulsky finished alone in second with a 152.
The 2016 SCGA Lefty Righty / Lefthanders Championship is one of 21 major championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association. The 40th Annual event was played on the 6,375 yard, par 72 golf course at Lake Marion Golf Club in Santee, SC.
