Meldrums Win Again – Laehns Take Playoff

For the third time in seven years, the husband wife team of Chad & Kadi Meldrum have captured the title in the SCGA/WSCGA Mixed Team Championship. The Aiken couple began the final round two shots off the lead, but with consistent play in the tough alternate shot format, the duo managed a one shot victory with a two day total of 75-73=148.

In the Senior Division, John & Judy Laehn needed a birdie on the second playoff hole to defeat Defending Champions Lea Anne Brown & Mark Hoover after finishing the day tied at even par 144.

The 2015 WSCGA/SCGA Mixed Team Championship was played at Fripp Island’s Ocean Point Links course. The field consisted of 64 man & woman teams playing a Best Ball format the first day and a Select Drive-Alternate Shot format the second day. The Mixed Team Championship is in its 18th year of existence and is one of 21 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association and one of two Championships conducted in unison with the Women’s South Carolina Golf Association.
