42nd Senior Better Ball Championship

New to the senior golf circuit, Eddie Hargett (Columbia) and Walter Todd (Laurens) made their presence known at the 42^nd SCGA Senior Better Ball Championship. The Hargett / Todd pair followed their first round 64 with a scorching nine under par 63, winning the championship by three shots over Rick Cloninger (Fort Mill ) and Kevin King (Bluffton). The Hargett / Todd pair carried a one stroke advantage over Todd Hendley (Greer) and Mike Mahoney (Greeleyville) into Sunday’s final round, and after a pair of opening pars, reeled off seven birdies on the next eight holes to extend their lead. Cloninger and King made a run on the back nine, but needed just a few more birdies to force a playoff. This is Hargett and Todd’s first time competing and first victory in the Senior Better Ball Championship.

The 2015 Senior Better Ball Championship is one of 21 major championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association. The 42nd Annual event was played on the 6,388 yard, par 72 golf course at Santee Cooper Country Club in Santee, SC.
