Woodard & Thorne are Champs
Will Woodard and Brad Thorne of Spartanburg and Moore took a 2 & 1 victory over Chris Mitchell and Matt Laydon in the Four Ball Championship to claim their first major SCGA title.
After both teams traded birdies on the front side, Woodard and Thorne found themselves all square at the turn. The duo fell 1 down after a birdie on 10 from Matt Laydon. After two pars and a birdie from both teams, the short par four 14th is where the young guns made their move. Thorne made a 10foot birdie putt on 14 to go back to square. On the par five 15th, after a missed Mitchell birdie putt, Woodard had an easy two putt birdie to go 1 up. With both teams making par on 16, Woodard knocked his approach shot to 4 feet on the 17th and made the birdie to putt to clinch the match 2 & 1.

The 2013 SCGA Four Ball Championship is one of 19 major championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association. The 50th Annual event was played on the 6,788 yard par 72 golf course at Willow Creek Golf Club in Greer, SC.
