6TH HARRY WILSON SUPER SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Stringer Defends Championship
Bob Stringer shot the low score of the tournament, a one under par 70, for a two day total of 145 to win the SCGA’s Super Senior Championship for the second year in a row. Since the inception of the event, the Blythewood resident has won three of the six Super Senior Championships played. Tied for second, one shot behind, were first round leader Bob Rickman and Denny Adkins at 146.
In the Wilson Flight, Charleston’s Tommy Ford shot an even par round of 71 for a two day total of 151 to win by three shots. In the John Orr flight, named after long supporting Florence Country Club member, Jim Giannaros shot 14 shots better than the first day to win by one over two other players.
The 6th Annual SCGA Super Senior Championship was played on the par 71 – 5,950 yard Florence Country Club in Florence, SC. The event was created to honor the 41 years of service by Anderson’s Harry Wilson to the SCGA. The field consisted of 78 individuals over the age of 65 years old and was played in a stroke play format conducted over thirty six holes. The Super Senior Championship is one of 19 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
