Ford and Morris Prevail

The SCGA Senior Better Ball Champions for 2002 are Urquit Morris from Charleston and Tommy Ford from Mt. Pleasant. In a battle to the end, Morris and Ford managed 6 birdies against no bogeys for a final round of 66 and a two day total of 133. Two groups ahead of them, the Columbia team of Ron Callahan and Harry Benenhaley shot 67 for a total of 135.

First Flight winners Ross and David Horton, from Branchville and Bamberg, posted one of the best rounds of the day. The duo combined for 7 birdies and one bogey to shoot a 6 under par 66. In the Second flight, Larry Rogers and Waine Jernigan, both from Andrews, and Dave Austin and Dave Grady both from Dataw Island tied for first place at 151.

The 2002 Senior Better Ball is one of 17 major events conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association. The tournament is being hosted for the 29th year on the 6080 yard par 72 Santee Cooper Country Club.
